Thomas Kane was part of the expedition that brought Velkan down after a cluster of settlements vanished near a forest no one would map properly. The surviving accounts disagree on whether Velkan attacked first or merely answered years of trespass, hunting, and desecration. Thomas never says what price was paid to contain him.
